Evaluation
From our group's audience research, the general census is that Psychological horrors tend to be the most preferred sub-genre. A glance at other results of audience research conducted by different production companies reinforces my belief that audiences as a whole would rather go see a Psychological as opposed to the other sub-genres of horror. Although our audience research was solely conducted on teenagers, aged 17+, we feel this is an indication of the overall population as the vast majority of those who go cinema are in their late teens. Moreover it makes sense those in their late teens would prefer a deep, intriguing psychological horror as they make the audience really think and contemplate the outcome of the film. It is the age where they begin to grow out of the mindless violence that involves very little thought. 21st century films appear to be more popular than the classic horror titles, possibly due to their advanced technological features such as the use of highly advanced special effects. Finally, i've learned that audiences would rather see a teaser trailer instead of a full length trailer. This slightly confounded me at first, but after some time spent evaluation my results i can presume that audiences do not like being spoon-fed every piece of information. Teaser trailers allow the audience to have a think about what they have just seen, it keeps them guessing. Teaser trailers create questions and as everyone in the film industry knows, questions generate hype, and hype generates popularity.
