Location
The photographs above is of the setting were we filmed our teaser trailer, which was shot at our college in the college meeting hall backstage, we chose this location because it had a good feel to it as it matched our ideas created for a particular location in comparison to others. Being unable to identify where the setting is was the exact look we wanted to perceive to help that horror effect reach its highest capacity, we tried as hard as we can to get the abandoned effect hence the boxes and tables.
This location was ideal mainly because of the black background and the untidy, rough layout of the room which we saw as an advantage rather than an disadvantage , this improved our opportunities to become creative and use our surroundings to gain a better effect than just a normal dark room, we found boxes and tables in the location and decided to use parts of them as it looked the part, many props were left in place as it looked good such as the fire extinguisher. There was many props laid around when we first reached the location, as we wanted to be creative we saw some of the props as an advantage so we left some parts to strengthen the overall look of the teaser trailer. Even though the background and the overall look of the room was intact, there was drawbacks to this location for example, there was limited space in this setting, for example there was point as we were shooting a scene it was hard to get the light to be effective due to because the space was to limited and it would end up being in the corner of one our shots which we couldn't allow, so to fix this we had to adjust to the space efficiently by doing whatever it took e.g climbing on the ladder whilst a member of the team held the light. Another implication was that as this location was already packed with boxes and unwanted equipment this became very time consuming to move the equipment especially with the time limit we had to shoot our teaser trailer.
Overall the location we chose was practical and useable to an extent, we could use it to create any type of horror affect we wanted especially with final cut pros editing effects thats how useful we found the location, the equipment we had matched the concept we planned for but on the other hand we was forced to rapidly adjust to the limited space and time we had with the many lil error we had to deal with which was a hard task solely because some equipment were very heavy and also the quantity of the equipment affected our work rate and our ability to work straight away.
